Employment ObjectivesA skilled digital media professional, I seek opportunities in post-production that will enable me to apply the professional experience acquired over the past two years producing a half-hour segment for WTIU (Indiana PBS affiliate); my educational background from the Department of Telecommunications-Indiana University; and on-the-job training provided by groups such as Indiana University Student Television. I am energetic, creative and highly motivated. Digital Media PortfolioI am passionate about video production, and am pursuing opportunities that will challenge my post-production skills. New technologies and software are emerging constantly, and I understand the importance of staying up-to-date. I strive to be constantly learning and problem-solving, using editing and graphics software such as Final Cut Studio Pro, ProTools, Photoshop, and After Effects. My portfolio includes high definition video production, audio production, as well as family portrait, landscape and action photography. Using my specialized knowledge in editing software, I hope to expand the clientele of a post-production company by offering professional, alternative, and creative videos that range from text and animation to documentary and cinema-style. Skills & ExperienceLeadership & Problem-Solving Most recently, I served as Executive Editor at the Indiana University Student Television station, a position that required leadership and problem-solving skills. The team consisted of approximately twenty editors, divided among ten shows. As an executive leader, I taught, trained, and delegated responsibilities to the station’s editors. I held weekly editing training sessions in which I helped editors enhance their skills in Final Cut Studio Pro and Photoshop. I am committed to using my considerable resources to find answers to any questions editors may have had, whether through blogs or online tutorials, contact with colleagues or past professors, or by cracking open a book. This position and approach enabled me to increase my skills as I helped editors increase their own. Agile While an intern at New Moon Productions, I assisted in editing their feature length documentary, Changing The Conversation. The head editor chose to edit on Avid Liquid. (In addition to Avid Liquid, I am quite familiar with Final Cut Studio Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.) The head editor felt confident in me, leaving me alone to edit during my internship. I also worked closely with the director to make quick changes each day. When the film débuted at the Milwaukee Film Festival in September 2009, I was credited as Assistant Editor instead of intern because the director felt that I contributed significantly to the final outcome of the film. Communication My communication skills are strong, especially when I am interviewing people. I have a passion for people and their stories; I find pleasure in the small details. Whether I interview someone for a documentary, promo piece, or just out of curiosity, I feel connected and comfortable with the interviewee. In my career development course, I was assigned to interview someone in the production industry. I contacted Susan Schwibbs, a documentarian at WTIU. Though the interview was scheduled to last no more than twenty minutes, Ms. Schwibbs requested we extend the interview to an hour to further discuss video post-production. She was overwhelmed at how much she had shared in the interview and that I was willing to listen. Now, when I run into Ms. Schwibbs, she is reminded of our talk and always compliments me on my interviewing skills. |
